LOG A LOAD FOR KIDS

Loggers Making a Difference

Log A Load for Kids is one of the timber industry’s most impactful charitable initiatives, raising millions of dollars each year to support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Founded in 1988 by loggers in South Carolina, the campaign has grown into a nationwide effort—driven by the generosity and dedication of logging professionals, forest products businesses, and their local communities.

As the national sponsor, the American Loggers Council is proud to support and amplify this grassroots movement. From charity auctions and clay shoots to golf tournaments and load donation drives, local events across the country raise funds that go directly to children’s hospitals in the communities where they are held. Every dollar stays local—and every effort helps save and improve lives.

Log A Load for Kids reflects the values at the core of the ALC: hard work, community commitment, and a belief in giving back. Whether you’re a logger, landowner, industry partner, or event organizer, there are countless ways to get involved and make a difference.

At the Log A Load for Kids Banquet and Auction on Thursday, September 18, 2025, during the Annual ALC Conference - "Geaux Logging" in Lafayette, Louisiana Ericson Logging was honored as the Volunteer Champion of the Year.

The award was accepted on behalf of company owner Max Ericson by Henry Scheinebeck, Great Lakes Timber Professionals Association (GLTPA).

For more than two decades, Max Ericson and Heidi Daleiden (GLTPA WI Northwest Region 1) have led annual Log A Load for Kids educational timber harvests - a tradition celebrating its 25th anniversary this fall.

With the help of a dedicated volunteer network, Wisconsin’s GLTPA WI Northwest Region 1 has raised $397,389.17 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, while also educating thousands of students about sustainable forestry.

These live, in-the-woods harvest tours feature up to 13 interactive stations where students learn about tree identification, fire prevention, wildlife habitat, invasive species, wood products, careers, and even logging history. With as many as 1,200 students attending over two days, schools across the region now incorporate the harvest tours into their annual science curriculum -underscoring Ericson Logging’s leadership in building the next generation’s understanding of forestry.
